Series Details:
Published by Routledge in conjunction with The Royal Town Planning Institute, this series of leading-edge texts looks at all aspects of spatial planning theory and practice from a comparative and international perspective.
The series:
- explores the dimensions of spatial planning and urbanism, in relation to people, place, space and environment
- develops the theoretical and methodological foundations of planning
- investigates the relationship between theory and practice
- examines the contribution of planners to resolving social, economic and environmental concerns.
By linking planning to disciplines such as economics, anthropology, sociology, geography, environmental and urban studies, the project's inherent focus on sustainable development places the theoretical and practical relationships between social, economic and environmental issues in their spatial context.
The Royal Town Planning Institute is Chartered to advance the science and art of spatial planning for the benefit of the public. The Institute was founded in 1914. It currently has 17,500 members, in Britain and Ireland and nearly 90 other countries.
Planning is concerned with the making of place and the mediation of space. Planning is key to the practice of sustainable development because it deals with the physical spatial relationships between our economic, social and environmental objectives.
If you are interested in contributing to the series, please contact Robert Upton.
Submission of proposals for the series should: provide an outline of the rationale and approach of the book;
- provide details of the contents of each chapter
- note the current literature available
- provide estimated word length
- number of illustrations and delivery date
